Finally made it to the library today - yesterday I had an emergency call from Ben's daycare. His ears were leaking pretty badly, so I had to go down and administer his medicated eardrops. It freaked out the director, but I kept telling her that his ears draining was a GOOD thing. It stopped after we sopped up some of it and this morning he was back to normal. Last night was rough, though - he threw up (I think his yogurt smoothie was off) in the middle of the night and had a hard time sleeping after that. But he was happy this morning - at least after I bribed him with a starburst to let me get him dressed. Spoiled brat.
Anyway, it's muggy out and I was damp by the time I got to the car. And super sweaty when I got out - yay for no a/c! I had 3 books on my list and ended up grabbing those and another 7. I am such a book addict. My mom used to tell me I should be a librarian, but I think I'd get fired for reading all day instead of working. :)
I'm still not feeling my meds - that is, if they're supposed to make me feel better or calmer. I had a tantrum this morning over something stupid at work. Luckily, I'm alone, so there was no one to see it. My therapist moved away and her office still hasn't called me to set me up with someone new. I'll give them another day or so and call them. If the meds help, great, but I still need to work out my underlying issues.
Oh, well. Back to the grindstone. |
what books? books = good.
i tried to go to the library after work today to pick up a book that was on hold, and apparently it closed early today! i don't have any clue why. and it closes at 5 on fridays, so i won't make it tomorrow either.
Well, I said before I wanted to see the Julie/Julia movie, so I got Julia Child's biography and Julie Powell's book. My therapist suggested I read the Five People You Meet in Heaven, so I grabbed that. Then I saw a Louisa May Alcott book I'd never read, so that went in the pile, along with the new P.B. Kerr Djinn Children book, Robin McKinley's Chalice and three of the Sisters Grimm books. That's nine... I guess that's all I got because I can't remember any more. Later, I was looking online for something and remembered I wanted to read Lamb by Christoper Moore, but apparently only the main branch has that book - and a heck of a lot other on my to-read list. It's only a little farther than the one I go to, so next time I'll go there.
Ugh, I hate it when I miss closing time at the library. Hopefully the early time wasn't due to budget cutbacks - our library system is getting ravaged by those. :(
nice! i don't even remember what book it is i have on hold. i put so many books on hold and forget about them until they come in. maybe i can manage to get to the library during lunch or something.
can't you request books from the main branch to your local one online? of course, that doesn't help if you don't want to wait for them to get shipped there.
budget cutbacks for libraries are lame. libraries are so important!
